8-5-20 Update Here's a statement of our mission: The mission of the KC Voter Action Initiative is to encourage King’s Chapel parishioners and others to join together in volunteering for non-partisan organizations dedicated to getting out the vote during the remainder of the 2020 election cycle. In what is shaping up to be the most momentous election of our lifetimes, we are dedicated to helping promote electoral justice so that every vote matters and is counted, and to supporting each other in our get-out-the-vote efforts. And here is a user-friendly chart comparing and contrasting the three get-out-the-vote organizations that the King's Chapel Voter Acting Initiative is focusing on (although please feel free to focus on others!).

8-12-20 Update Here is a short PowerPoint presentation on Electoral Justice that we discussed at our meeting on 8-3-20. Dorie began with that presentation. Then we had a general discussion about organizations and their initiatives that we might choose to get involved with, and members discussed their interests and made suggestions. We concluded with a plan to get wider involvement within the congregation.

8-25-20 Update At our August 17 meeting, we screened the recently-released documentary "Suppressed: The Fight to Vote," which focused on voter suppression efforts in Georgia and had a rousing discussion afterwards.

Here are minutes from our 8-31-20 meeting, where members discussed their experiences with the three get-out-the-vote organizations we have been promoting. We also heard about Emma Healey's excellent work with her students at Bunker Hill Community College and assembling materials for more widespread use with college students.
At the next meeting on Sept 15 we will be hearing about the situation surrounding a possible lack of poll-workers and actions that you can take. Also, we expect to hear about experiences of members with several other organizations supporting voting in our democracy.

[from Dorie Seavey]
Gary Riccio treated us to a presentation on electoral activism, which may be found here.
As reported in Between Sundays, with just 46 days left until the Election, the KC voter project has engaged 30 volunteers (a 58% increase from two weeks ago) and contacted 1,267 voters (up 41%). Outreach to an additional 1,187 voters is in process.
Terrific work everyone! Our KC goals remain: Fifty volunteers and outreach to 5,000 voters. Come join us! You can make a difference. Contact Dorie Seavey for more information and for the link for our next Zoom meeting on Tuesday, Sept 29, 3pm.

The Voter Action Initiative met again on 10/27/2020 to take up the topics of protecting the vote and the election results. We also shared clips from recent sermons from our ministers and got updates.
